10 Goals for Christians in 2026

The Scriptures invite us to live with purpose. Proverbs 29:18 reminds us of the importance of having a vision; without it, the people perish. We also see the guidance of the psalmist when he commits himself to set no wicked goal before his eyes (Psalm 101:3). Proverbs 17:24 (NIV) challenges us to establish the highest goal: attaining wisdom. Below, you will find—and be challenged to set and pursue—10 goals for Christians in 2026.

  1. Have daily devotional time
The greatest challenge for the Christian is to pursue consistency in a daily relationship with God. It is not impossible, but for many it becomes difficult because they have never cultivated lasting, meaningful relationships.

Seeking God daily—preferably in the morning—will help you gain a fresh perspective on what the Lord desires for your life. Prayer, reading His Word, and meditating on it will be your most valuable tools throughout your Christian walk.

  2. Read the entire Bible
Create a plan to read the Bible in one year. Reading three to four chapters a day will allow you to complete the entire Bible in 365 days. Note: Do not confuse this reading with your daily devotional time.
  3. Evangelize at least one person each month
Fulfilling the Great Commission is the natural outcome of one who has been saved by Jesus. For some, sharing the gospel is difficult, but that does not justify neglecting it. If you love God, you will desire to honor Him by sharing His salvation. Pray for family members and friends; share your testimony and how Christ saved you. By the end of 2026, at least twelve (12) people will have heard about the Lord.
  4. Participate in at least one discipleship process
Being a disciple is central to Jesus’ teaching. Anyone who has been saved must begin—and persevere in—a process of knowing God and His Holy Word; this process is called discipleship.
Note: If your church does not have discipleship processes, contact me. Each year we offer online discipleship for those who need it.
  5. Disciple someone
If you have already been discipled, you can begin teaching someone else the principles of God found in His Word. In doing so, you will help others know God more deeply and obey Him with a life of holiness and devotion.

  6. Methodically study two (2) topics related to Christianity
To grow in faith and avoid error regarding God’s principles, Christians should study topics that help them move forward—such as biblical interpretation, outlines of the books of the Bible, or Church history. You can read solid books by authors who possess deep knowledge and a genuine love for God. You may also enroll in a course or certification at a Bible institute or seminary.
  7. Live in holiness
Perfection is the goal (Matthew 5:48), but it will be unattainable on this earth. For this reason, the Lord sent His Holy Spirit to guide, teach, and strengthen us in this mission. The regeneration of your life is ongoing. When you sin, repent, confess your sin before God, and continue forward.
  8. Serve in your local church
We are saved and left on earth to serve God. Service is part of our worship to the Lord, for it is a sign of obedience. Commit yourself to a local church, seek an area where you feel passion, and ask for permission to serve there. “The harvest (the needs of the world) is plentiful, but the workers are few.”
  9. Participate in a short-term mission trip
There is always room to join a short-term mission trip. It does not have to be outside your country. Look for opportunities to go to another place and share the good news of salvation. Millions have not yet heard of Christ. A one-week mission experience will mark your life forever.
  10. Give financially to missions
We live in a world that teaches us to spend more than we need. God’s economy is different: giving for the expansion of the Kingdom (that is, the salvation of the lost) is the best investment, because it yields eternal life for many. Create a monthly plan to support a missionary, a mission, or a missionary agency.

*“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philipians 3:13,14 NIV

I hope that these 10 Goals for Christians in 2026 become part of your life, for the edification of your spiritual walk and the strengthening of your faith.
